3rd Prize — AG360 International Architecture Competition (Mexico) Awarded for its harmonious integration with the landscape and sustainable design approach.

The Skyveil Retreat, a high‑end clubhouse on the shores of Lake St. Moritz, is conceived as a bird in flight—an emblem of freedom and weightlessness. Its fluid, sculptural forms emerge seamlessly from the terrain, tracing the natural undulations of the site and reflecting softly in the lake’s waters. By integrating contemporary architectural language with a deep respect for the surrounding alpine landscape, the building becomes part of its environment rather than an imposition upon it. Arranged along the water’s edge, the clubhouse opens onto the lake with a welcoming wooden terrace, offering panoramic views and a gentle transition between interior and exterior. Inside, guests can unwind in a cozy café and lounge, refresh in a boutique spa suite, or simply linger over a light meal while absorbing the vistas. Everything is oriented toward ease of movement and a sense of calm: circulation flows like a continuous ribbon, and generous glazing frames the forested slopes and distant peaks. Sustainability is integral to the design. The building sits within a continuous monolithic shell equipped with high‑performance insulation and natural ventilation. A living green roof harvests rainwater and enhances thermal comfort year‑round. Beneath the roof, certified CLT “waffle” panels provide a warm, low‑impact structural system, while natural, low‑VOC timber ceilings improve indoor air quality. Molded glass façades incorporate selective solar control, reducing heat loss and optimizing daylight. The external deck is crafted from durable thermowood (or recycled composite), and the entire structure is supported on piles set in low‑carbon, ecological cement to minimize site disturbance. By weaving together a light, bird‑inspired form, a rich program of hospitality amenities, and a rigorous sustainable strategy, Skyveil Retreat offers visitors an immersive lakeside refuge that honors both its dramatic alpine context and the timeless rhythms of nature.
