The house is designed with a focus on maximizing natural light and optimizing the use of scenic views. The windows frame a picturesque landscape, where pine and birch forests become an integral part of the spatial experience. The architectural solution ensures an ample amount of natural light inside, fostering a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
This approach allows for the distanced placement of the living areas from dense urban development, while all major rooms are oriented towards an inner courtyard, which becomes a centralized space for relaxation and solitude. The courtyard serves as an essential element, focusing attention on the interaction between architecture and the natural surroundings.
The thoughtful distribution of volumes and spatial zoning has preserved a large portion of the site as undeveloped, leaving over 80% of the trees untouched, which underscores the principle of a respectful approach to the natural context. This solution also reflects a sustainable approach in architectural practice.
The architecture of the house can be conditionally divided into three functional blocks. The first block includes a spacious living room combined with a kitchen, as well as a separate utility kitchen. The upper part of this block contains the master zone with a bedroom, walk-in closet, and bathroom. The second block consists of a garage and utility spaces on the ground floor, a study that also serves as a second bedroom, as well as a spa area with a small floatation pool, a gym, and two children's rooms on the second floor. The third block is dedicated to staff accommodations.
The connection between the blocks is made through a double-height gallery, which serves not only as an architectural transition but also as a space for showcasing artwork from the owners' collection. The expansive glass walls of the gallery minimize dark corridors and allow natural light to fill the space, enhancing the sense of airiness and transparency.
The house features three terraces: two located on the ground floor, near the living and dining areas, and a third next to the master bedroom on the second floor. These terraces not only extend the living spaces but also provide a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor areas, offering various levels of engagement with the surrounding landscape.
The balance of volumes, the contrast between dark and light materials, the interplay of horizontal and vertical textures, and the combination of transparent and solid elements create harmony, allowing the house to blend organically with its natural context. This project exemplifies the core principle of Kerimov Architects: architecture should be unique and respond to the characteristics of the site, ensuring comfort and harmony for its inhabitants.
